    Early Years and Educational Background

     

    Marc Korenberg was born on April 11, 1977, in Winchester, Massachusetts, and grew up in Framingham. Throughout his childhood, he had a strong interest in sports, which led him to play on his high school’s varsity basketball team and serve as captain of the varsity soccer team. His experiences as an athlete helped shape his leadership abilities, teamwork skills, and focus on discipline—traits that would become integral to his later career.

     

    Marc attended the University of Vermont in Burlington, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business in 1999. His academic training provided a solid foundation in business principles, preparing him for a career in Finance. He later pursued an MBA in Finance from Keller Graduate School of Management, further enhancing his understanding of financial strategy and business operations.

     

    Early Career at UBS Investment Bank

     

    After completing his education, Marc moved to New York City and joined UBS Investment Bank as part of their corporate finance team. He quickly gained recognition for his analytical skills and ability to contribute to strategic financial planning. His responsibilities included developing pitch materials and financial presentations for senior management, which helped him hone his ability to communicate complex financial data clearly and effectively.

     

    Although his career at UBS showed great promise, Marc’s trajectory was altered by the tragic events of September 11, 2001. The loss of people he knew personally during the attacks caused him to reevaluate his professional path. Motivated to make a more significant impact, he left his role in Finance and enlisted in the United States Army.

     

    Military Service and Leadership Development

     

    Marc’s decision to serve in the military was a defining moment. He completed Infantry school, attended Airborne Paratrooper jump school, and underwent Special Forces training before being assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a paratrooper until 2005, and the experience helped shape his leadership style and work ethic.

     

    The Army instilled in him values such as resilience, teamwork, and problem-solving, which would become vital throughout his business. His time in the Army allowed Marc to develop a strong sense of purpose and gave him the leadership skills that would later benefit him in the business world. The experience reinforced his ability to lead under pressure and make strategic decisions in challenging circumstances.

     

    Transition to the Motorcycle Industry

     

    After Marc Korenberg's military service, he returned to West Chester, Pennsylvania, where he shifted to a career in the motorcycle industry. He had developed an interest in motorcycles while serving in the Army. When an opportunity arose to work at a family-owned motorcycle dealership in Bear, Delaware, he took it. Initially starting in the sales department, Marc quickly leveraged his financial skills and transitioned to a role in Finance.

     

    His ability to manage finances and operations soon led to his promotion to General Manager of Sales and Finance. In this role, Marc played a key part in driving the dealership’s success by managing financial operations, streamlining business processes, and leading sales teams. This experience gave him valuable hands-on business management knowledge and further honed his leadership capabilities.

     

    Return to Finance and Growth at Zeltiq

     

    Despite his success in the motorcycle industry, Marc remained focused on returning to Finance. After completing his MBA, he joined Zeltiq Aesthetics in Pleasanton, California, as a Business and Financial Analyst. His contributions at Zeltiq were quickly recognized, and he was promoted to Director of Commercial Operations, where he managed a wide range of functions, including business intelligence, sales operations, and customer service.

     

    Marc’s leadership role at Zeltiq continued to expand, and he was promoted to Director of Finance and Operations. His work was instrumental in streamlining operations, improving financial processes, and driving growth. When Zeltiq was acquired by Allergan in 2017, he oversaw the integration of the company’s international business operations. His efforts were recognized with the CEO Award for Excellence, a testament to his leadership and contributions.

     

    Marc's Role at Revance Therapeutics

     

    In 2018, Marc joined Revance Therapeutics, a clinical-stage biotechnology company, where he played an essential role in transitioning the company from clinical operations to commercial operations. He served in multiple roles at Revance, including Senior Vice President of Operations, where he worked with cross-functional teams to optimize business processes and ensure the company’s operational success.

     

    Marc's impact at Revance has continued to grow, and in late 2023, he was appointed Deputy to the CFO. In this role, he helped manage the company’s financial operations, overseeing manufacturing and supply chain departments. He was also deeply involved in the company’s strategic partnership discussions and merger negotiations with Crown Laboratories.

     

    Personal Interests and Giving Back

     

    Outside his professional career, Marc is a passionate sports fan, particularly of Boston’s sports teams, including the Celtics, Red Sox, Patriots, and Bruins. He has remained active in sports, playing soccer and basketball throughout his high school and college years and continuing to enjoy outdoor activities such as snowboarding and horseback riding.

     

    Marc is also a strong advocate for animals and has supported various charitable causes, including the ASPCA, the Nashville Wine Auction’s cancer research campaign, and The Gratitude Network, which aims to help underprivileged children globally. Marc enjoys golfing, wine tasting, and spending time with his family in his free time.
